Ursula is a Criminology PhD student at the University of Glasgow, funded by the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences (SGSSS). Prior to her PhD, Ursula earned her MPhil in Sociology, a MSc in Contemporary Identities and an undergraduate degree in Politics.
Guided through lived experience, her PhD project looks at how victim-survivors of sexual violence publicly use online spaces in relation to justice, especially in the face of online abuse and rape myths. The project incorporates zine-making and interviews with victim-survivors throughout the UK, asking how justice is envisioned, experienced and supported through online spaces. Her project is dedicated to facilitating empowerment-focused research through creative methods.
Previously, Ursula worked as a Research Assistant at the Kent and Medway NHS Partnership Trust and the Kent and Medway Medical School. In this position, Ursula engaged with underserved coastal communities in Kent on how to improve access to dementia research and on an intergenerational reading project in two schools in Kent and Medway.
