I am a Postdoctoral Researcher based in Delhi, India, investigating the mental health and migration impacts of the Partition of India. I hold a PhD and MPhil in Anthropology from the University of Delhi and a B.Tech from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi.
My research spans life course and social epidemiology as well as lived experiences, employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. I have conducted extensive studies on childhood experiences and their long-term health and behavioural outcomes among young adults in Delhi-NCR, as well as depression and mental health challenges in North Indian farming communities. My work has resulted in over 40 journal articles, several book chapters, multiple publication awards, and collaborations with national and international researchers.
My research aligns closely with CHaI’s themes, exploring the socio-cultural determinants of health, disease, and resilience, and examining how people experience health, illness, and wellbeing within socio-cultural contexts. I am particularly interested in how these contexts shape what we encounter, how we experience it, respond to it, and cope with it.
Through CHaI, I hope to connect with researchers and practitioners, share methodologies, exchange ideas, and develop collaborative cross-cultural projects that bridge anthropology, public health, and social sciences. I am especially interested in understanding variations in lived experiences across different socio-cultural contexts.
Fun fact: I am an anthropologist who is also an engineer; I combine the study of lived experiences with data modelling.
